Guest Participant: So Far
This is the from the first posting for the EDTC 602 — Educational Technology Field, Theory and Profession course.
The Educational Technology program at Texas A&M has been a Godsend for both my family and I. Before we start with the conversation over this week I like to share some of my life story. The purpose of this is not to bask in the glory that is Mr. Ford, but to share how life changing this program can be as well as the opportunities that become available with this degree and a sense of adventure in pursuing opportunities.
Early Years
I graduated from the University of South Florida in 1994 with a BA in Psychology. While I completely enjoyed my time and experiences at USF, the only career opportunities available involved the phrase “would you like fries with that.” Luckily while I was going through the program I was also pre-med. After I graduated I began Chiropractic college at Palmer Chiropractic in Davenport Iowa. If you have never been to Davenport, well lets just say it should not be on anyone’s bucket list. After two years, I transferred to Texas Chiropractic College in Pasadena Texas. Pasadena you might remember was feature in such timeless movies like the Urban Cowboy and at least one episode of COPS.
Guest Participant
For the last two years I have been invited to be a guest participant in EDTC 602 — Educational Technology Field, Theory and Profession at Texas A&M. I am over joyed to say I have been invited back another year to share the Educational Technologist/Instructional Designer perspective in the commercial/government sector. I owe a great deal to Texas A&M’s Educational Technology program. Since I have been awarded my M.Ed. my family’s life has been an adventure.
I will be sure to post some of the questions and answers to my blog. If you have any questions please let me know.
Course Management Systems part 02: eLearning
What is eLearning?
No discussion on course management can be complete without a look at some of the basics about eLearning. When I
was researching eLearning for a talk I would be giving, some factoids began to appear over and over again. One of the main themes that unveiled itself was the fuzziness of some of the terms we use. When I say eLearning, what do you think of? Some think of eLearning as distance learning, online learning, computer based training (CBT), etc.
